The Reception Area is made up of our covered tent, grain bin bar, covered pergola, and washrooms. 

The Fine Print

Exclusive use and Occupation

During the term of the Licence, the Occupants shall have exclusive right and license to use the Venue subject to the provisions of this agreement.
 
Obsidian Ridge shall at all times have access to the Venue, or any part of it for purposes of maintaining, observing and ensuring the safety and security of the Venue, and any guests invited onto the Premises by the Occupants.
 

User Liability for Damage

The Occupants shall be liable for any damages caused by themselves or any of their guests or invitees. Damage shall include damage to any of the premises, equipment, facilities, or any other Obsidian Ridge property occurring during the license term. The Occupants acknowledge and agree that should any damage be caused, Obsidian Ridge shall be at liberty, in their sole discretion, to utilize the Security Deposit as partial compensation for said damage. The parties further agree that the Security Deposit shall not represent full and final satisfaction between the parties and Obsidian Ridge reserves the ability to pursue the Occupants for any damages over and above the Security Deposit.
 

Notification of Damage

The Occupants will promptly notify Obsidian Ridge of any damage, or of any situation that may significantly interfere with the normal use of the Premises or to any furnishings, structures, landscape or other property supplied by Obsidian Ridge.
 

Condition of Premises at the End of the Term

At the expiration of the Term, the Occupants will surrender the Premises in as good a state and condition as they were at the commencement of this Licence.
 

Adherence to Laws and Rules

The Occupants agree that they will carry on and conduct their event in such manner as to comply with all statutes, bylaws, rules and regulations of any federal, provincial, municipal or other authority having jurisdiction and will not do anything on or in the premises in contravention of any of them.
 
The Occupants agree that they, and any and all guests, will abide by the rules and regulations attached to this agreement. Should any of the Occupants, or any of their guests, breach or violate any rule of law or any of the rules and regulations attached, that person may be arbitrarily removed from the premises by Obsidian Ridge and the Occupants shall immediately be considered in default of the terms of this Licence.
 

Entry Gates

Opens at 10:00 am - Access times for specific site amenities are detailed in the respective options.
 
Close at 12:00 am (midnight) - No unauthorized entry or exiting after gates are closed, any entries or exits that need to occur after 12:00 am (midnight) of your event date must be pre-arranged and managed by the Occupants. For overnight packages, the Occupants will be given gate code to manage emergencies or special circumstances. As a code holder the Occupants assume all liability and responsibility for those exiting or entering after 12:00 am (midnight). As a code holder, it is required that the Occupants uphold their responsibility to ensure the gate remains closed & locked at all times.
 

Pets

No pets or animals are allowed in or about any of the overnight accommodations on the premises. Pets are allowed on site in outdoor areas but must be kept indoors overnight in personal vehicles or RVs. For guests who require service animals, accommodations must be discussed and agreed upon prior to the event date. Occupants assume all liability for damages or injuries their pets or animals may cause to the property or persons occupying the property, and must clean up after their pet.
 

Capacity

Occupants must not exceed maximum capacity of 200 people. Exceeding maximum occupancy will result in a charge of $2,000.00 and/or potential fines from municipality.
 

House Keeping

We are a LEAVE NO TRACE venue. The Occupants are responsible to ensure that:
  • Waste is disposed of in the appropriate receptacles
  • The environment is respected
  • Guests are considerate of others
  • Guests travel and camp on durable surfaces
  • The site is generally left as it was found within all reasonable expectations
 

Glassware

Glassware is not permitted outside of the reception tent area. This includes decorative glass in the ceremony space. Use of glassware is only allowed in situations with the prior consent of Obsidian Ridge on terms and conditions deemed reasonable by Obsidian Ridge, acting arbitrarily and reasonably.
 
Any approved glassware must remain inside the tent and reception area at all times.
 
Any glassware found to be used outside the reception area will be confiscated immediately and a warning will be given. Repeat offences will result in a fine of $250.00 per occurrence and/or immediate suspension and removal of ALL glassware for the remaining duration of the event.
 
Any broken glass inside the tent must be cleaned up immediately by the tenant, and any broken glass found on the grounds outside the reception area will result in $1,000.00 fine per occurrence and immediate suspension of glassware privileges.

Safety

The Occupants will obey all rules and regulations posted by the Landlord regarding the use and care of the Building, parking lot and other common facilities that are provided for the use of the Tenant in and around the Building on the Premises.
 
For safety reasons we do not recommend stilettos or high heals on the grounds, women should to bring flats for walking around the venue. High heals can be used inside the reception area.
 

Music and Entertainment

Obsidian Ridge provides an in-house PA system for use in the venue. This system must be used for Music and entertainment to be permitted on the Premises. The Occupants will ensure any noise created by their event will not disturb the peace or be deemed a nuisance to the neighbourhood past 11:00 pm. If the Occupants plan to go past 11:00 pm with music, an Obsidian Ridge manager will monitor sound levels periodically to ensure it is not exceeding acceptable levels. The Occupants agree to work with Obsidian Ridge or their agents to prevent an incident of disturbing the peace. (Due uncontrollable sound output of live bands, live music must finish by 11:00pm and DJ to play after 11:00pm).
 

Parking

Only properly insured motor vehicles may be parked on the Premises. Vehicles which Obsidian Ridge reasonably considers unsightly, noisy, dangerous, improperly insured, inoperable or unlicensed are not permitted on the Premises, and such vehicles may be towed away at the Occupants’s expense. Parking facilities are provided at the Occupants’s own risk. The Occupants are required to park in only the space allotted to them. Obsidian Ridge will provide a parking attendant to direct guests to their allotted spaces.
 
The Occupants are entitled to the exclusive use of 100 designated parking spaces in the Day Use Parking for guests that will not be staying on the Premises overnight. We recommend, however, that a bus service be hired to shuttle guests between their accommodations and Obsidian Ridge for your guests’ safety and convenience.
 
Vehicles will be towed at the Tenant’s expense if left in the Day Parking area after the conclusion of an event.
 

Licensed Caterers Only

A licensed and insured catering company must prepare food for the day. Any onsite caterer is responsible for the set-up, breakdown, and cleanup of the catered site. The Occupants will be held liable and subject to additional cleaning fees if the caterer fails to clean up the area.
 

Allergies

Obsidian Ridge is not responsible for allergic reactions. It is the responsibility of the Occupants to identify possible allergens and establish safe work practices with their vendors regarding allergens.
 

Licences and Permits

The Occupants are responsible for obtaining any requisite licence for their desired event, including, but not limited to a liquor licence/permit to supply their own alcohol & menu.
 

Last Call

The latest time for last call is 1:00 am and reception area (transparent tent, grain bin bar, outdoor lounge area, washroom facility) must be closed at 2:00 am unless otherwise agreed upon in writing. Exceptions can be made in rain out scenarios.
 

Cannabis and Smoking

Use of store-bought legal cannabis is permitted within a designated cannabis smoking area. Selling or serving of cannabis is not permitted on the Premises, any violators will be removed immediately without warning. Absolutely no smoking of any kind shall be allowed at any designated kids zone or near the Obsidian Ridge’s non-venue facilities.
 
Please dispose of butts properly, any littering will result in a penalty fee. Damage to the property, including but not limited to guest rooms or violation of smoking policy will result in a non-refundable fee of $250 to pay for deep cleaning needs.
 

Responsibility for Children

Use of commercial playground requires adult supervision at all times, all posted rules must be followed. Usage of the playground constitutes acknowledgement of the posted rules and regulations. Violations will result in two warnings. One verbal warning will be given to children, One will be given to their parents or the Occupants. Continued rule violations after the warnings will result in immediate $500 fee will be deducted from security deposit. Extreme violations may result in removal of guests from the property and extra charges for property damages. If the Occupants expect a lot of children to be attending we strongly suggest arranging dedicated child supervision
 

Vehicle/Wagon Waiver

Use the golf cart, row boat, horse carriage, are subject to the Rules and Regulations of the venue and require an additional waiver of liability prior to inspection and receiving access.
 

Third-Party Service Providers

All of the vendors and supplies selected by the Occupants, including, but not limited to, caterers, photographers, performers, and DJs, must adhere to the terms and policies of Obsidian Ridge and it shall be the Occupants’s responsibility to enforce the rules. Obsidian Ridge reserves the right to refuse entry to non-approved vendors and it is the Occupants’s responsibility to ensure any selected vendors or supplies have been approved by Obsidian Ridge.
 

Washrooms

Washroom facility with flushable toilets shall be cleaned and maintained by Obsidian Ridge. The Occupants shall be liable for any damage to the Washroom facilities.
 

Insurance Liability

The Occupants acknowledge and confirm that the personal property of the Occupants, or any of their guests or invitees, is not insured by Obsidian Ridge for either damage or loss, and that Obsidian Ridge assumes no liability for any such loss. The Occupants acknowledge and confirm that they will obtain liability insurance protecting Obsidian Ridge in the amount of $2,000,000 for their event. The Occupants shall provide proof of such insurance to Obsidian Ridge at least one (1) month prior to the start of an event, failure to provide proof insurance will be deemed a default of this Licence.
 

Health Restrictions

Obsidian Ridge operates pursuant the Government of Alberta Regulation and Pursuant to the rules of the Government of Alberta, the Occupants and all of their guests and invitees must adhere to the current regulations at the time of the event. Overview of applicable regulations can be found on the Government of Alberta website. The Occupants acknowledge that Obsidian Ridge has a zero-tolerance policy for aggressive, obscene, or offensive comments directed at Obsidian Ridge or its agents and employees. Should the Occupants, or any of their guests or invitees offend this policy, Obsidian Ridge reserves the right to remove that individual from the premises and note the Occupants in default of the terms of this Licence.
 

Indemnity

The Occupants do hereby indemnify and save Obsidian Ridge and its partners, associates, employees, successors and assigns harmless from and against any and all losses, claims, suits, damages, and other injury which may arise in any manner whatsoever in connection with this License or the event occurring at the Venue. The only limitation on this indemnity is that Obsidian Ridge will not be indemnified for and only to the extent of willful misconduct or fraudulent acts committed by its own agents and employees. The provisions of this indemnity shall survive the closing or termination of this License for an indefinite period.
 

Photography

Obsidian Ridge reserves the right to take pictures and video’s of event activities occurring in public areas of the Premises. The pictures and videos shall be the sole property of Obsidian Ridge and may be featured on Obsidian Ridge’s website, social media and other promotional marketing material, all content to be approved by Occupants.
 

Use of Obsidian Ridge Name

The Occupants shall not utilize Obsidian Ridge’s name or likeness in any social media or print media without the prior consent of Obsidian Ridge. The parties acknowledge and agree that negative representations of Obsidian Ridge in media of any form are harmful and damaging to Obsidian Ridge, and, should the Occupants, or any of their guest or invitees, engage and posting of said material, the parties agree that Obsidian Ridge shall be entitled to liquidated damages from the Occupants as compensation for same.
 

Events of Default

The following shall constitute events of default:
  1. if the Occupants for any reason other than Force Majeure, becomes unable to pay the Price;
  2. if the Occupants assign or attempts to assign this License or any rights other than as provided hereunder upon the consent of Obsidian Ridge;
  3. if either party fails to perform any one or more of any of its material obligations under the terms of this agreement;
 

Zero Tolerance Rules

The Occupants are responsible for enforcing, or assigning people to enforce, the following rules for:
 
  • 15km/hr driving speed at all times
  • No possession of glassware of any kind outside reception area (transparent tent, grain bin bar, outdoor lounge area);
  • No fighting
  • No Alcohol outside of designated areas
  • No consumption of off-site alcohol by non-registered guests
  • No verbal, sexual, racial harassment or threats toward anyone
  • No swimming in any of the water features
  • No drinking and driving onsite or offsite
  • No fireworks or open flame (outside of the designated fire pit) without written permission;
  • No illicit or illegal drugs
  • No selling or providing alcohol without a licence
  • No feeding the wildlife or domestic animals
  • No weapons, guns or knives
  • No smoking inside buildings
  • No crossing property lines or fences
  • No throwing of confetti, rice, or seeds
  • No garbage dumping or sewer dumping
  • No littering (including cigarette butts)
  • Use of washrooms is mandatory
  • All guests must stay on developed grounds - see map
 
Any violators of the Zero Tolerance Rules can be removed from the property immediately and event is subject to closure and may result in deductions from security deposit to a maximum of $2,000.00.

The Story

Our Reception Area is the perfect place to host your guests once the ceremony has completed. Cocktail hour, dinner and drinks all typically take place here. The space continues the use of the symbolic circle in the construction of the Grain Bin bar and washrooms. Each designed with rustic and durable materials, the open air pergola area feels like a vacation just 30 minutes from the city. The use of natural woods, and large timber frames provide a complimentary warmth to the steel and concrete used in the foundation and frame.

The main tent area is provided with minimal decor and includes all that you would need to host dinner and a reception. Use this space as it is, or add your own decorations to transform this canvas into the space of your dreams. Tables, chairs, lighting and backdrop greenery are included.

The goal when creating this space was to provide as turn key of a solution as possible. Our team assists with arranging tables and chairs, but leaves any additional special decorations to you. Fully functioning, touchless male & female washrooms are simple yet well appointed.
